Today we head to Adelaide, traveling via vast Hay Plains and Mildura,
located on the mighty Murray River.
We cross the South Australian border and travel through the vineyards of the
Riverland District to Adelaide.
Day 5 Wed Flinders
Ranges
This morning see the
sights of Adelaide.
Travel through the Clare Valley wine region and sample some local wines,
before continuing into the Flinders
Ranges.
Day 6 Thu Port Augusta
Enjoy some time at
Wilpena Pound this morning; see the original Wilpena Homestead or the energetic
may wish to take the walk to Wangarra Lookout.
Day 7 Fri Coober Pedy
Visit Woomera,
established in 1947 as an experimental rocket launching site, before traveling
to Coober Pedy. Join a
local tour of this unique town and visit an underground church and home to
discover how the locals live.
Day 8 Sat Ayers Rock
Leaving South Australia, enter the Northern Territory, crossing cattle
stations, before arriving at Ayers Rock Resort.
Enjoy a glass of wine watching sunset over Uluru.
Day 9 Sun Ayers Rock
This afternoon visit
Kata Tjuta and walk into Walpa Gorge. Enjoy sunset with a glass of sparkling
wine, followed by a delicious barbecue dinner under the stars.
Day 10 Mon Kings
Canyon
Today travel to Kings Canyon.
Walk to the rim of Kings
Canyon for superb views
of Watarrka National Park.
Day 11 Tue Alice
Springs
Today enjoy a tour of
this unique outback town including the Royal Flying Doctor Service, School of
the Air and Telegraph Station.
Day 12 Wed Alice Springs
This morning meet a
local Aboriginal guide for our Desert Discovery Tour. Explore Standley Chasm and Simpsons Gap
this afternoon, followed by a visit to the Alice Springs Desert
Park.
Day 13 Thu Tennant
Creek
Travel north across
the Tropic of Capricorn. Continue to Tennant Creek for a tour of an underground
mine with a local guide and delicious barbecue dinner.
Day 14 Fri Katherine
Visit historic Daly
Waters. This afternoon visit the beautiful Mataranka Thermal Springs. Arrive in Katherine
late afternoon.
Day 15 Sat Kakadu
Enjoy an early morning
cruise through Katherine Gorge. Entering Kakadu National Park,
join a cruise on famous Yellow Water Billabong.
Day 16 Sun Darwin
This morning visit the
Ubirr rock art site. Stop at the Bowali Visitor Centre, before traveling to Darwin and enjoy a brief city orientation
tour upon arrival.
Day 17 Mon Darwin
This morning we travel
to Litchfield National
Park to see beautiful Florence Falls
and the mysterious Magnetic Termite Mounds. Return to Darwin this afternoon.
Day 18 Tue Depart Darwin
You will be
transferred to Darwin
Airport to connect with
your onward flight.
